The Western Central Regional Police Command has restored calm at Nsuaem inside the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality following a violent attack on the Nsuaem Police Station on Wednesday, October 29.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, October 30, in the course of the Regional Police Public Affairs Unit and signed via Assistant Superintendent of Police Beatrice Turkson, the incident began after police detained a 25-year-old man referred to as Sulley Moses.

Preliminary investigations published that the suspect was arrested after voters accused him of attempting to trap two children, aged seven and 5, to an unknown holiday spot.

“Preliminary interrogations indicate that on Wednesday, twenty 9th October, 2025, a number of about 15 men, accompanied via two children aged 7 and 5, dropped at the station suspect Sulley Moses, aged 25, with a report that that that they had spotted him in the course of the roadside with regards to Nivo Filling Station conversing with the kids,” the statement discussed.

“They suspected that he intended to trap the kids to an unknown holiday spot and, due to this fact, demanded police movement.”

Police discussed the suspect was detained after the kids confirmed that he had forcibly held them.

However, the position escalated shortly after the arrest. A mob of about 500 people, armed with stones and other offensive weapons, besieged the police station, difficult the suspect’s unlock.

“The crowd blocked the Takoradi–Tarkwa highway, set tyres ablaze, and threw stones at the police, damaging two automobiles, parts of the station building, and several other different impounded motorbikes,” the statement added.

The Regional Police Command discussed reinforcement teams, supported in the course of the military, were in short deployed to disperse the crowd and service order.

“The Police reinforcement body of workers, with fortify from the Military, dispersed the crowd and brought the position underneath control.”

In the strategy, 3 law enforcement officials and four civilians sustained injuries and were treated at the Nsuaem Government Hospital. One of the civilians was later referred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for extra treatment.

The statement confirmed that the suspect, Sulley Moses, has been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Headquarters for extra investigation, while all officers at the Nsuaem Police Station were relocated for cover reasons.

“The suspect has since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Headquarters for extra investigation. All officers at the Nsuaem Police Station were relocated to a protected place, and the station has been briefly closed down.”

The Police assured most of the people that they would make sure that the entire ones involved inside the attack are dropped at justice.

“The Western Central Regional Police Command strongly condemns the attack and assures most of the people that each one perpetrators could be recognized, arrested, and dropped at justice.”
